EPA’s Lake Guardian 2021 Summer Water Quality and Biology Survey Underway

From Sept. 3-17, scientists aboard the EPA Research Vessel Lake Guardian will conduct the 2021 EPA Great Lakes Summer Water Quality Monitoring Program and Biology Monitoring Program  surveys on Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Lake Superior.

Scientists use nets, bottles, grabs, sensors and cameras to collect water, sediment and planktonic and bottom-dwelling organisms. This survey continues EPA’s 30+ year dataset of trends in Great Lakes ecosystem condition.
