The Great Lakes Commission has awarded nearly $315,000 to 21 local organizations in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin to help control invasive Phragmites australis through the Phragmites Adaptive Management Framework Active Adaptive Management Program. Funding for the program is provided by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.

The PAMF is a predictive model, developed by the Great Lakes Phragmites Collaborative, that uses participant data to continually ‘learn’ about which methods of controlling the invasive species are most effective. Grantees will test different methods and then provide data to the PAMF to increase the model’s predictive power and improve best management practices.
