EPA and its federal partners are beginning to develop the next Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) five-year Action Plan for 2025-2029. The Action Plan will outline the Initiative’s priorities and goals in five focus areas:

  • Toxic Substances and Areas of Concern;
  • Invasive Species;
  • Nonpoint Source Pollution Impacts on Nearshore Health;
  • Habitat and Species; and
  • Foundations for Future Restoration Actions.

The draft GLRI Action Plan is expected to be available for public comment this fall/winter.

Community engagement sessions will take place through August 2023. Members of the public will be able to learn more about the GLRI Action Plan and its development process, talk with representatives from EPA and other agencies, and provide input on priorities to be used in the initial stage of developing the new Action Plan.
