Upcoming GLRI Funding Opportunity for Nonpoint Source Projects to Address Agricultural Nutrients and Stormwater Runoff

(May 8, 2019) EPA expects to soon issue a Request for Applications to solicit applications from eligible entities for grants and/or cooperative agreements to be awarded pursuant to the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. Once it is issued, applicants will have approximately 45 days to respond to the RFA. This pre-announcement is intended to alert potential applicants. This RFA is EPA’s major competitive grant funding opportunity under GLRI for FY 2019 and FY 2020.

Under this RFA, EPA expects to award a total of approximately $14 million for about 30 projects in five categories addressing agricultural and non-agricultural nonpoint source and nearshore health issues. It is not anticipated that EPA will offer funding opportunities for these categories again in FY 2020.

Eligibility

Nonfederal governmental entities, including state agencies, interstate agencies, federally recognized Indian tribes and tribal organizations, local governments, institutions of higher learning (i.e., colleges and universities), and non-profit organizations as defined in 2 C.F.R. § 200 are eligible to apply for funding under this RFA.

Individuals, foreign organizations and governments, nonprofit organizations exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code that engage in lobbying, and “for-profit” organizations are not eligible.

More details will be made available once the RFA is released.
